A Seattle woman says three men tried, but failed, to steal her car because none of them could figure out how to operate the car’s manual transmission.

Seventy-year-old Nancy Fredrickson was taking items out of the trunk of her Kia when three young men approached her and demanded her car keys, according to KCPQ-TV.

Nancy initially thought it was a joke, but she quickly realized one of the men had a gun. So, she threw the keys on the ground.

The thieves got nowhere, though, when they got into the car and realized they couldn’t make it go.

“I could hear them trying,” Fredrickson said. “They put the keys in, they turned the lock, but they couldn’t figure out how to get it started.”

The men eventually gave up and ran from the car. A surveillance camera captured video of them running through a nearby parking lot, but they had not yet been caught.
