Victim airlifted to hospital for injuries from home invasion in Sterling

For the second time in two days, Sterling Police are investigating a home invasion in which someone was injured.

For the second time in two days, Sterling Police are investigating a home invasion in which someone was injured.

Police said it was not yet clear how many people were involved in a break-in that happened sometime between 9 p.m. Monday, June 23 and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at a home in the 1300 block of Griswold Avenue.

Police weren't called to the home until just after noon Tuesday, June 24.

An adult man was in the home at the time of the break-in, and he suffered serious injuries.  He was taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital and later airlifted to an out-of-town hospital because of the severity of his injuries.

The Griswold Avenue break-in was reported two days after two people when several people broke into a home on 7th Avenue in Sterling.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Sterling Police at 815-632-6640 or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at 815-625-7867.
