An Iowan was one of three Marines from Camp Lejeune who died Friday, June 20 during combat in Afghanistan.

Lance Cpl. Adam F. Wolff, 25, of Cedar Rapids, was killed while conducting combat operations in Helmand province.

Wolff was an Ottumwa native who was living in Cedar Rapids, according to the Ottumwa Courier.  He deployed to Afghanistan in March 2014.

Lance Cpl. Brandon J. Garabrant, 19, and Staff Sgt. David H. Stewart, 34, were also killed. All three men were assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The Department of Defense said the men were deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
