The United States on Sunday tied Portugal 2-2, keeping the team’s hopes alive for advancing to the next round of the World Cup.

It would have been round 16 for the U.S. had they beat Portugal, but Silvestre Varela tied it up in the fifth minute of stoppage time, according to ABC News.

In just five minutes, Portugal was ahead in the game, but a goal by Jermaine Jones tied it up in the 64th minute.  A goal by Clint Dempsey placed the U.S. in the lead with nine minutes left.
The U.S. will now face Germany Thursday, June 26.
