The 2014 Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival was set for July 31 through August 3 in Davenport, Iowa.

The festival started when the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Band, of New Jersey, traveled to Davenport to play a musical tribute to Leon Bismarck “Bix” Beiderbecke in 1971.  That tribute started an annual tradition gathering several local jazz musicians and bands to play and hear great music.

The 43rd annual festival also honors the 83rd anniversary of Bix Beiderbecke’s death.

Organizers unveiled a schedule of events happening during the 2014 festival, including:

Taste of Jazz Tour – starts at 7 p.m. at Grumpys in the East Village on Wednesday, July 30.

Don Estes and the Prairie Ramblers perform at the Davenport Library Porch Party at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 31.

The Jim Cullum Jazz Band performs at the Putnam Museum in Davenport at 4 p.m. thursday, July 31.

Free concerts will be held in LeClaire Park between 6 and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, August 1 and 2.

The Peter & Will Anderson Sextet will perform graveside at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 2.
