Police say body found is man missing from capsized boat

A body recovered from the Mississippi River is believed to be that of a man who vanished when the boat he was driving capsized in Clinton County.

A man’s body was pulled from the Mississippi River in Clinton County, Iowa.

The body was discovered Tuesday afternoon, June 17, 2014, in the area of the Elk River.  The man’s body was pulled from the water at about 3 p.m. according to a spokesman for the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

The body was believed to be that of 60-year-old Charles Selser.  A boat he was driving capsized in that same area of the Mississippi River on Saturday, June 14.  Police said Nancy Selser, 85, died and three other passengers made it to shore and survived.

Charles Selser was the only person on that boat who was not wearing a life jacket, according to Clinton County authorities.

The boat was pulled from the river Monday, June 16.
