North Scott girls’ soccer ran away with the Class 2A state title after their game went into overtime.

The Lancers were trailing behind Waverly-Shell Rock at their game Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Des Moines, until Karli Rucker tied-it up with six minutes left in the first half, bringing the score to 1-1.

The teams stayed tied until the ninth minute of overtime, when Katie Conner scored for the Lancers, making a final score of 2-1.

North Scott became the Class 2A State Soccer Champions. This victory made history, as it was the first time ever that the MAC has seen two girls’ soccer championships in the same season with Assumption winning the Class 1A State Championship.
