One person was missing after five people fell into the Mississippi River when their boat capsized in Clinton County.
The boat capsized in the Mississippi River at the Elk River mouth Saturday, June 14, 2014 around 11:30 a.m., according to Sgt. Paul Hammond from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. The five people who were in the boat fell out into rough water.
One adult and two young children made it to shore, Hammond said. The body of one adult was recovered and crews were still searching for another adult.
A spokesperson from the Clinton County Sheriff's Department said that the search for the missing adult was called-off for the night around 6 p.m. because the wind was blowing too hard, causing wavy and rocky waters to search in.
