North Scott to play for Class 2A Soccer Championship

North Scott is heading to the finals to play for the Class 2A Championship.

The Lancers played the Cedar Rapids Xavier Saints in Des Moines on Friday, June 13, 2014 and the game stayed tied at 0-0 for both halves.

The game went into double overtime, and then to the penalty kicks.

North Scott got on the board with a goal by Lindsay Gallens. Xavier responded with another goal, again tying it up at 1-1.

Lancers pulled ahead at 2-1 after Karly Soy scored. Then, the Saints tied it up again.

The Lancers pulled away again with 3-2, after Sierra Connor scored. That goal was followed by another tie by Xavier, 3-3.

North Scott took another lead when Karli Rucker scored, making the score 4-3. Then, excitement built as Xavier tied it up.

With the final punch, Lauren Gottfreid brings it up again, this time for a final score of 5-4.

North Scott will play Saturday, June 14 for the state title.
