Driver airlifted after crash in Camanche

One person was airlifted to a hospital in Iowa City after a single-vehicle crash in Camanche, Iowa.

The wreck was reported just after midnight Friday, June 13, 2014 at the intersection of 9th Street and 37th Avenue.

The injured person suffered “multiple serious traumatic injuries” according to a statement from the Camanche Fire Department, which also said the driver did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The landing zone needed for a requested helicopter ambulance shut down nearby Highway 67 for about an hour.

One vehicle was involved in the crash.  No other injuries were reported.
