With a 5-2 win over Waterloo Columbus, Assumption girls move on to the semifinals where they’ll face a familiar opponent.

Iowa’s four-time Gatorade Player of the Year, Rose Ripslinger, had a goal and two assists in the quarterfinal game played in Des Moines Thursday, June 12, 2014.

The Lady Knights took an early 2-1 lead with a Ripslinger-to-Maddie Irmen goal. Irmen’s hat trick helped Assumption pull away in the second half.

Mallory King also scored one of their five goals.

The final 5-2 score propels Assumption to the semifinals, where they’ll face Bishop Heelan on Friday. The two teams last faced each other in the 2013 state championship, which the Lady Knights won 2-0.
