BluesFest offers free tickets to veterans and active military

Military veterans and active service members can get free tickets to the Blues Festival thanks to the American Legion.

Military veterans and active service members can get free tickets to the Blues Festival thanks to the American Legion.

The Mississippi Valley Blues Society has 150 tickets, good Friday, July 4 or Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Blues Fest.  Gate admission is normally $25 per day.

If you are an active or veteran member of any branch of the military, you can request a ticket by contacting Anna Waters between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, through June 30, in the Special Events Office on the first floor of Building 60 at the Rock Island Arsenal.   Phone (309) 782-5890.

The MVBS says the free tickets are made possible because of a grant from the American Legion.

They also need volunteers to help make the Blues Festival happen.  You can register online to volunteer - click here.
