The U.S. Postal Service has posted job openings in several communities across Iowa and Illinois.

The USPS listed 75 openings in Iowa as of June 10, and more than half were for carrier and rural carrier positions. Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo and Des Moines were among locations with positions available.

More than two dozen of the 67 available USPS positions in Illinois were also for carrier or rural carrier positions, including openings in Galesburg and Monmouth.

Employees hired during the USPS hiring push in the 1980s are now beginning to retire, and postal officials say that has resulted in a growing number of job opportunities with the Postal Service.
