A crash involving two semis shut down lanes on I-80 near Atkinson for more than nine hours.
The Illinois State Police said shortly after 7 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014 a semi that was headed eastbound on I-80 struck another semi that was parked on the shoulder at milepost 32. The parked semi then caught fire.
All lanes both eastbound and westbound were stopped and traffic backed up for miles.
Police on scene began rerouting traffic on the U.S. 6, south of the interstate.
I-80 was back open again around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, according to Illinois State Police.
