Woman dies overnight following an accident on Wednesday

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department says a 49 year old woman has died after a car crash on Highway 67 in Milan on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

The crash was reported just before 4 p.m. on Highway 67 at 127th Avenue, by Castle Junction Storage.  It was the second crash reported within an hour on a two-mile stretch of that highway that day.

Two people were taken to the hospital after an SUV driver attempted to make a U-turn and pulled in front of a dump truck in the second wreck, according to the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Department.

Lori Minter of Rock Island was later identified as the woman who died.  Police said she was pronounced dead just after 4:30 p.m. at a local hospital.

Minter’s 12-year-old son, who was a passenger in her vehicle, was treated and later released from a local hospital.

Police said the driver of the dump truck was not hurt.
