Customers got to travel back in time when they visited an Iowa truckstop on a monumental day.
On Wednesday, June 4, 2014 Iowa 80 Kitchen at the Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott celebrated its 50th anniversary by offering a menu of items priced as they were when they opened in 1964.
Coffee was 10 cents, a meal consisting of two eggs, hash browns, bacon or pork sausage and toast cost just 95 cents. How about a cheeseburger and fries? 55 cents. Or if customers on Wednesday wanted to splurge a little, a half golden fried chicken, choice of potato, cole slaw, and a roll cost $1.65.
“Celebrating 50 years in business is a big deal and we thought that offering some special items at 1964 pricing would be fun,” said Jeff Peel.
The special pricing was offered to customers all day on the anniversary date, Peel said.
