More than $1 million approved for road work in Whiteside and Mercer Counties

More than $1 million has been approved for road construction projects in Mercer and Whiteside Counties.

More than $1 million has been approved for road construction projects in Mercer and Whiteside Counties.

In Mercer County, US Route 67 will be resurfaced from Ridge Road north of Matherville to 10th Avenue in Viola for more than $1.2 million. McCarthy Improvement Company of Davenport will be doing the work.

In Whiteside County workers with G.M. Sipes Construction, Inc. of Rushville will be patching pavement along U.S. Route 30 from Hillandale Court to Bartlet Street in Morrison. This project costs more than $242,000.

“These projects will make sure our Mercer and Whiteside County infrastructure is well-maintained to improve safety and longevity,” said Illinois Governor Pat Quinn. “The projects will also employ a number of construction workers which will drive local economies forward.”

The Department of Transportation will be managing the projects.
