A flash flood watch was issued for counties south of the Quad Cities.

The National Weather Service said the watch was in effect for Lee, Hancock, McDonough, Scotland, and Clark Counties until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

“Despite the current drought or dryness across the area, enough rainfall could fall to cause flash flooding of small creeks and streams,” said an NWS spokesperson. “This may eventually lead to flooding on area rivers.”

Residents in the area are advised to monitor forecasts and “take action if flash flood warnings are issued or flash flooding develops.”
