A Fort Madison man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after the shooting death of another man in Burlington, Iowa.

Marvin Sutton, 35, was found dead in the back yard of a home in the 1600 block of Green Street just before 3 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014.  Police said Sutton had been shot in the chest.

A day later, police said Sutton and 42-year-old Lenard Polhans, of Fort Madison, were involved in a confrontation just before the shooting.  Polhans allegedly fled on a motorcycle after the incident, and was later arrested in Fort Madison.

Polhans was returned to face charges in Burlington.

Police said Polhans was charged with first-degree murder, and that he was held without bond in the Des Moines County Jail.
