Soldier surprises sister at Davenport graduation

One local graduate got the surprise of her life.

Hundreds of high school students walked across the stage to get their diplomas, including graduates at Davenport West High School.

It was a special day for all students, but one grad got the surprise of her life.

For senior Desirae Blake all, she's wanted is for her older brother Dustin to be there when she walked across the stage.  Dustin has been deployed in Afghanistan. Desirae barely gets to talk to her brother let a lone see him.

"As soon as I found out my son could come back, I knew I was going to keep it from her," said mom, Denise Blake Herric.

Desirae's brother surprised her by showing up to her graduation.  It was the last thing she thought would happen.

"When she hugged me I couldn't stop hugging her, too," said Dustin Blake Wall.

"It just means a lot to me, because he's someone who's kind of always been in my life," said Desirae.  "I remember when I was little I kind of always tried to be just like him."

Dustin was only able to stay for a day, before he has to head back to England where he's stationed.
