A man is in custody after being accused of setting fire to a Davenport bar.

On Friday, May 30, 2014 Fire Captain Ed Grothus said that Marshall E. Popp from Davenport was charged with first degree arson, accused of setting fire to Lumpy’s Bar and Grill on Harrison Street, according to a spokesperson from the City of Davenport.

Previous reports indicate that firefighters were called to the fire at Lumpy’s Bar and Grill around 11:15 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014.  A spokesperson from the Davenport Fire Department said that the fire was under control in 30 minutes and was confined to the bathroom.

The City of Davenport spokesperson said that Popp has been accused of setting fire to the men’s bathroom while several people were inside the building.

Popp was reportedly taken to the Scott County Jail.
