More than $750,000 is being funneled into a project that will make a new terminal for the Channel Cat.

More than $750,000 is being funneled into a project that will make a new terminal for the Channel Cat.

The communications director for Congresswoman Cheri Bustos said on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 that $756,350 was granted to create a new Channel Cat Passenger Ferryboat Terminal on the Missisippi River in Moline.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Discretionary Passenger Ferry Grant Program funded the grant.

Bustos said the grant will allow the Quad Cities to meet transportation needs, create jobs, and boost the local economy. Senator Dick Durbin, who shared in making the announcement, said the grant will “make improvements to the ferry terminals, making sure they are safe and accessible for many years to come.”

The Channel Cat opened back up for the season during Memorial Day weekend 2014.
