Fire crews were fighting a blaze that started at a vacant Rock Island house.
A spokesperson from the Rock Island Fire Department said crews were in "defensive mode" fighting a fire at a home in the 1500 block of 11th Street near 15 1/2 Avenue on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. The fire started around 5 p.m. and firefighters were trying to prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring house.
Police were on scene and had 11th Street from 15th Avenue to 16th Avenue blocked to traffic.
Crews were still putting out hot spots around 6:20 p.m.
