I couldn’t have asked for better weather this weekend. I had a couple of friends drive up from Kentucky to visit me for the first time! Took them awhile. ;) I wanted to show them around the cities, let them taste some local staples, and experience favorite local pastimes.

We managed to cram a River Bandits game, Comedy Sportz show, Ganson’s , Van’s Pizza, Whiteys, Freight House Farmer’s Market, Antique Archeology, shopping in LeClaire, shopping in Davenport, among others all into Memorial Day weekend. I don’t get many weekends off, but when I do I take advantage of it.

My friends and I had a great time visiting many of the local favorites. I don’t want to say one experience was better than the other because they were all so different but what I really enjoyed was going to the local farmers’ market. It was my first time there as well. I had heard good things about it but I just had never made myself get up and go. I’m so glad I did.

I had never been to this farmers’ market before because I thought once you experience one you kind of have seen them all. I admittedly was very wrong. I was pleasantly surprised to see how big the weekly event was and how many booths and people were present. I was tempted to buy lots of locally grown veggies but I knew I wouldn’t be dining in that weekend so I resisted. I ended up getting peanut butter fudge and a new spring dress for my dog daughter Lily. I will certainly be back in the future!10397293_10101430101158022_774999087181161738_o
