The Ferris wheel at Modern Woodmen Park in Davenport took its first ride, for a safety inspection.
On Wednesday, May 21, 2014 some city leaders got to take a ride on the Ferris wheel, which crews began building in October.
The 110 foot tall attraction was scheduled to take its inaugural ride Saturday, May 24, 2014. The Ferris wheel was completed almost a month ahead of schedule.
“Long after all of us standing up here are gone, this Ferris wheel will still be turning and generations and generations and generations of children will still be enjoying it,” said River Bandits owner David Heller. “[That's] a wonderful, wonderful legacy to leave for this wonderful community.”
