Local foundation connects scholarship donors with students in need

More than $375,000 worth of scholarships will go to local students to help their pursuit of a college education.

More than $375,000 worth of scholarships will go to local students to help their pursuit of a college education.

The scholarships were awarded by the Community Foundation of the Great River Bend at a reception Sunday, May 18, 2014.

The reception allowed scholarship donors to meet students receiving the awards and to learn more about what those students hve planned for college.

The Community Foundation matches donors with causes to meet their mission "To better our community by connecting people who care with causes that matter," according to their website.

"By year-end, including all renewable scholarships, more than a half-million dollars in scholarship assistance will be awarded to more than 200 students in and around the Quad Cities," said Diane Koster, Director of Communications for the Community Foundation.
