A ceremony took place in the QC to commemorate Armed Forces Day.

Armed Forces Day, according to the Department of Defense, was created in 1949. The day was meant to unify all branches of the U.S. military, educate and raise awareness about jobs within the armed forces, and to honor and acknowledge those serving.

On Saturday, May 17, 2014 a ceremony was held at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport. U.S. Congressman Dave Loebsack was at the ceremony and said this day reminds us to take care of our troops when they come home.

“We have to make sure that those folks get everything that they have coming to them and that we not make them wait in long lines or wait months for care,” Loebsack said. “We’ve got to do it now and the sooner the better.”
