Fresh off a trip to Afghanistan, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos shared her experiences overseas with local veterans.
The roundtable discussion was held at the Moline library Thursday, May 15.
While in Afghanistan, Representative Bustos met with troops, and learned about the advances the military has made, as well as the challenges it faces moving forward.
Representative Bustos said she was there “to make sure the Afghan people are trained in human rights,” and ensure that their “human rights don’t take a step back,” and “that their military has the leaders to sustain their military operation over there.”
Congresswoman Bustos also delivered handmade Mother’s Day cards from students at Andalusia Elementary School to the troops in the Asian country.
