Two construction bids to rebuild the Credit Island Lodge came back to the Davenport City Council on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. Both bids came back around $1.5 million, about $300,000 more than the $1.2 million the insurance company was offering to rebuild the lodge for.

In May of 2013, a fire destroyed the Credit Island Lodge in West Davenport. Since then, a committee has been formed to figure out how to rebuild the lodge. The city council has also voted to rebuild it, but Wednesday's news was a minor setback.

Public Works Director Mike Clarke says the insurance company will now consider paying that extra $300,000. City leaders we spoke with Wednesday say regardless of the insurance company's response, they will still rebuild the lodge.

Wednesday, Davenport leaders tabled the agenda item on rebuilding the lodge. The city council will revisit this at their Committee of the Whole meeting Wednesday, May 21, 2014. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at Davenport City Hall. Leaders likely won't approve the rebuilding of the lodge at that meeting though.
