Rockridge High School’s Music Department was ranked 3rd in the State of Illinois for Class B Schools.

A spokesperson from the high school said the Illinois High School Association ranked the department 3rd after students’ performances in the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest held in March at Monmouth-Roseville High School and the IHSA Large Group Contest in April held at Rockridge High School.

On Wednesday, May 14 more than 100 music students gathered to take photos with their trophy.

One student said the honor was the "icing on the cake" to the end of her senior year.

"We were shocked like in awe this has never happened here before in many many years," said Ali Knolenberg. "It was definitely well deserved and we were very happy."

This was the fourth time the Rockridge Music Department has earned a state trophy, the last time was in 2003.
