After much planning a ribbon cutting was held for the Children’s Garden in Rock Island.

A spokesperson from the QC Botanical Center said the planning took years, but on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 the ribbon cutting was held and the garden opened to the public.

The garden features a mini Mississippi River with large sandboxes.

Activities on site help teach kids about recycling and how to take care of the environment.

The garden is open until October 31 during the Botanical Center’s regular hours.
