The current and former U.S. Representatives for Illinois 17th congressional district have agreed to face each other in a debate at the WQAD News 8 studios.

Former Congressman Bobby Schilling (R-Colona) and current Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-East Moline) say they will take part in the debate scheduled for October 9, 2014.

Good Morning Quad Cities anchor Jim Mertens will moderate the event, which will be broadcast live from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on WQAD and on WVIK radio, and it will be streamed live on WQAD.com and on QCOnline.com.

Schilling and Bustos last debated at WQAD October 11, 2012.

Bustos defeated incumbent Schilling in the November 6, 2012 election that followed, and Schilling now hopes to regain his seat.
