The Stamp Out Hunger food drive was a success.

On Saturday, May 10, 2014 mail carriers dropped-off mail and picked-up food on their routes. That food was to be donated to the River Bend food bank.

According to Jenny Parvin from the United Way, they collected an unofficial total of 95,000 pounds of food.

“The food bank is still counting because of the overwhelming amount of donations, and we’ll have an official number on Monday,” Parvin said.

In 2013 Parvin said they collected more than 60,000 pounds. A previous report indicates that their goal was to collect 100,000 pounds for 2014.
