You can lend a hand in a community hunger drive by without even leaving your home.

On Saturday, May 10, 2014 letter carriers will collect food donations to give to the River Bend Food
Bank as part of the Stamp Out Hunger food drive.

All you have to do is place non-perishable food in a bag and leave it by your mailbox. If you do not have a mailbox you can contact your local post office.

Donations can include canned soups, canned vegetables, pasta, rice, peanut butter, tuna, green beans, and more.

The drive is a combined effort between the National Association of Letter Carriers, the River Bend Foodbank, and United Way of the Quad Cities Area.

A spokesperson from the United Way said in 2013, the food drive collected more than 60,000 pounds of food. This year their goal was to collect more than 100,000 pounds.
