A witness said a driver lost control in a curve on Route 84 just before her car slammed into a tree in Hampton, Illinois.
Police said the car was traveling southbound when the wreck happened just after 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 in the 16000 block of Route 84 North. The car went off the road and hit a tree before coming to rest in the front yard of a home.
A man who lives at that house said he saw the car crash. He said the only person in the car was the woman driving it, and she was taken to an area hospital in an ambulance.
Route 84 curves in the area where the wreck happened. The witness said he has seen several wrecks in that area in recent months.
The severity of the driver’s injuries was not immediately known.
