When a staff member saw a suspicious man near Davenport Central High School, the building was briefly locked down as a precaution.
Police said a school staffer looked out a window and saw a man, who possibly matched the description of a wanted person, near the tennis courts across Harrison Street from the school at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
The school was placed under precautionary lockdown, and police were called.
Officers found the man near the school; the man was reportedly carrying a BB gun and he was taken away in a police car according to a spokesperson for Davenport Community Schools.
The precautionary lockdown was lifted after about 10 to 15 minutes. It delayed the arrival of buses, for early dismissal day, by about 15 minutes.
