Photos: Fire destroys Whiteside County home and family’s belongings

A Whiteside County family has lost some of their belongings in a fire that destroyed a house near Erie, Illinois.

The fire was reported just before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 5749 Fargo Road.

Firefighters say the fire started in the back of the vacant home.

A man, who lives next door, said his parents used to live in the house, but they are now deceased. He says he had many photos inside the home, and the house is now a total loss.

No injuries were reported.

Crews were still working to put out the fire at about 8 a.m.

Multiple crews from Whiteside and Rock Island County responded to the scene.

The Erie Fire Protection District had not yet released a cause of the fire.
