A fund has been set up to help the family of a Davenport man whose body was recently found, months after his disappearance.

Willis Hughes was last seen December 21, 2013 near 7th and Perry in Davenport. A fisherman found his body Tuesday, April 29, 2014, in the Mississippi River near Muscatine.

“This final news is very hard for any family to hear. We are all with the Hughes family and friends in spirit, and extend our deepest sympathy,” said a post from the Quad Cities Missing Persons Network.

Later posts to the QCMPN and Find Willis J Hughes pages on Facebook indicated a fund was set up to help his family with unexpected funeral costs.

Donations to the fund can be made at any IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union location; checks can be made out to the credit union with Willis Hughes on the memo line.

According to the QC Missing Persons Network, funeral services for Willis Hughes were set to be held at Halligan McCabe Devries Funeral Home in Davenport. The visitation was scheduled Monday from 4 - 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 - 11 a.m. Funeral services were set for 11 a.m.
