WTVR reported that on Thursday afternoon, May 1, 2014 the boy, Martin “Marty” Cobb and his 12-year-old sister were playing on railroad tracks in south Richmond when they were approached by someone, later identified as a teenager, who attempted to rape the girl.

While trying to intervene, Marty was beaten, according to the report. He died on the scene.

The teenager accused of the attack has been taken into custody, WTVR reported. Police said the teen is being “medically evaluated.”

That is so sad, yet encouraging that the brother was willing to risk his life protecting her. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call a true brother. RIP to this young boy.
