A Burlington High School student’s Google Doodle could become a national finalist, and she could win a scholarship, with your help.
The theme of this year’s Google Doodle contest is “If I could invent one thing to make the world a better place.” The contest was open to artists in gradees K through 12.
Guest judges chose a Google Doodle by Amy Carlson, a senior at Burlington High School, as the winner among all entries submitted in Iowa.
“I would make the ‘ideatriever’!” said Amy. “Sometimes you come up with an ingenious idea, but it escapes you as soon as you try to act on it. This nifty little device rounds up all those forgotten ideas and sends them right back to you!”
The winning Illinois entry came from Yina Wang, a student at Peterson Elementary in Chicago.

The 50 state winners need your vote to be chosen as the best Google Doodle. Voting opened April 29 and continues until May 9, 2014.
All 50 state winners will be recognized at an awards celebration at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California on May 21.
The winning animated Doodle will be displayed on the Google homepage June 9, 2014. The winner also receives a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 Google for Education technology grant for his/her school.
