Some storms were severe, with hail and wind gusts around 60 miles per hour, as they pushed through the Quad Cities and surrounding areas during the late afternoon hours.

Those high winds may be what caused a train to derail in Laura just after 5 p.m. according to a report from ABC affiliate WHOI-TV. Laura is about 25 miles east of Galesburg.

Freight cars, carrying household items, were thrown from the train track near Laura. Media reports from the area reported anywhere between 24 and 45 cars derailed.

Cleanup was expected to keep Laura Road closed between Route 78 and Elmore Road.

No injuries were reported.
