A wreck involving a passenger car and a school bus sent several Bettendorf Middle School students to area hospitals.

The wreck was reported at about 3:15 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at 30th Street and Bellevue Avenue.

The bus was taking students home after school, when it was traveling south on 30th Street and collided with an eastbound car.  The car reportedly ran a stop sign and broadsided the bus, according to Bettendorf School District Operations Manager John Campbell.

Thirty students were on the bus when the crash happened.  Initial indications were that ten students, complaining of neck and back injuries, were taken to two area hospitals for evaluation.  A city spokesperson later said 13 children, plus two occupants from the car involved, were taken to area hospitals.

Some parents showed up at the scene after they were notified of the wreck.  Another bus arrived an took the remaining students home.
