Niota man killed in Hancock County head-on crash

A man from Niota died of injuries he suffered when the pickup truck he was driving collided head-on with another vehicle in Hancock County, Illinois.

A man from Niota died of injuries he suffered when the pickup truck he was driving collided head-on with another vehicle in Hancock County, Illinois.

Police said 63-year-old Frank Palm was westbound in a 1986 Chevrolet pickup truck on Illinois Route 9/96 near County Road 1120, when he tried to turn left in front of an oncoming 2013 Dodge Journey.

The two vehicles collided head-on at about 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014.

Police said Palm died at the scene of the crash.  Palm was not wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 33-year-old woman from Dallas City, Illinois, was airlifted to a hospital in Quincy.  Her injuries were considered serious.  Police said she was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
