Mushroom hunter finds body in wooded area in Clinton

A person out mushroom hunting found a body in a wooded area in northern Clinton, Iowa.

According to the Clinton Police Department, on Sunday, April 27, 2014 shortly before 11 a.m., someone out mushroom hunting north of 36th Avenue North and McKinley Street discovered a body in the woods.

“The victim’s remains were removed from the area and will be sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted,” said Operations Commander Captain William Greenwalt of the Clinton Police Department.

The person’s identity was being withheld while authorities positively identify the body and notify family.

Clinton Police Captain Tom Bohle said a tentative identification had been determined by Monday, April 28, 2014, and that the body was not that of Benjamin Roseland, who has been missing since February 2008.
