Prom season is upon us, and in an effort to keep teens safe, Genesis Medical Center is sending this message: “We want to see you before prom… Not after!”

On Saturday, April 26, 2014 the Genesis trauma services department offered free, professional photos at Genesis East in Davenport.

When students came to get their photos taken, they were asked to sign a pledge that they will not use alcohol or illegal drugs on prom night. The pledge also stated that they would wear their seatbelts, and not be distracted drivers. All who signed were entered in a drawing for a gift card.

“Prom night should be a positive experience with wonderful memories,” said Dr. John Hartman, M.D., trauma surgeon at Genesis East. “There is nothing more traffic for a family or friends than to go through a Prom Night accident that could have been prevented by simply practicing safe driving on the special night.”

Prom-goers were also given the option to have the photos uploaded to Facebook instead of receiving prints.
