The non-profit organization Rebuilding Together Quad Cities pulled together more than fifty volunteers on Saturday, April 26, to perform home repair projects at seven different locations in the Quad Cities as part of National Rebuilding Day.

The volunteer-based organization performs small home repair jobs for homeowners who can't do it themselves such as the low income, disabled, and the elderly. Homeowners apply through their website and are chosen based on their level of need.

Work is done for free for the homeowners and it entails small jobs like replacing light fixtures, yard work, painting, and sub-flooring.

Volunteers include retirees, Home Depot, Deere & Company, Youth Build, and Davenport Jaycees.

"It's a great opportunity for us to give back to the community," said April Boyer, President of Davenport Jaycees. "I'm an event planner and I was joking that this is the first time you'll see an accountant, an engineer, and an event planner all in one activity. Building and digging and working hard and sweating."
