In the middle of the afternoon, when a Carroll County resident came home, they saw a man they did not know leaving their residence.

Carroll County Crime Stoppers said the residential burglary happened north of Savanna on Illinois Route 84 near Diehl Road around 1:20 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014. The homeowner discovered that jewelry had been stolen from the home after seeing a 6-foot, 3-inch tall white man estimated to be about 50 years old leaving. The man was also described as having gray hair and a beard.

Law Enforcement Coordinator Ryan Kloepping said the man then left the area driving a silver, older model Mercedes with Iowa plates. The car had blue tape on the rear driver’s side window.
