Man shot at Rock Island convenience store

Police were searching for a Rock Island man after another man was shot in the leg at a convenience store on 11th Street in Rock Island, Illinois.

Police were searching for a Rock Island man after another man was shot in the leg at a convenience store on 11th Street in Rock Island, Illinois.

The shooting was reported just after 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Eleventh Street Mart, 1520 11th Street.

Police later confirmed a 23-year-old man was shot in the leg.  His injuries were considered non-life-threatening, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Rock Island Deputy Police Chief Jason Foy said the shooting happened outside the store.

No other injuries were reported.

Brandon Montrece Brooks, 32, of Rock Island, was later charged in connection with the shooting.  An arrest warrant said Brooks was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Brooks was not in custody, and police said he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone who sees Brooks, or knows where he can be found, should contact local police.
