Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka will be back in the Quad Cities on Tuesday, April 22nd to discuss how to make state government more transparent.

Topinka was in the Quad Cities is September of 2013 to kick off her re-election campaign. A month later, she was in the Quad Cities discussing government transparency at the local level.

Now, the comptroller is showing off where your state tax dollars are going. She has included statistics in the tax return that you receive from the state. The sheet shows that at the end of 2013, the state had $7.6 billion in unpaid bills. It also showed that the state had more than 73,000 unpaid bills.

Topinka is part of a workshop Tuesday at Black Hawk College. The meeting starts at 8 a.m. and ends around noon. Topinka is scheduled to speak around 11 a.m.

Topinka is being challenged by current Lieutenant Governor Sheila Simon. Simon announced her run for the Illinois Comptroller position back in July of 2013.
