The Government Bridge in the Quad Cities was set to be part of a film about the engineer behind the structure.

From Monday, April 21 through Thursday, filmmakers planned to be in town working on “Bridging Urban America – The Story of Master Engineer Ralph Modjeski.”

“Our film-in-progress encompasses the life and visionary leadership of a leading American engineer, eight strategically significant North American bridges and their impact on commerce, culture, and urban development,” said a spokesperson for the film. “20th century engineering meets 21st century innovation.”

Once the film is complete, producers plan to target the 90-minute program at PBS stations nationwide.
